Summary: PictPath collects location data to record your trips and geo-tag photos. We use Google AdMob to display ads in the free version. All trip data is stored locally on your device by default. We do not share your location data with third parties for advertising.

PictPath (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “the App”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

2. Location Data Collection

How We Use Your Location Data

  • GPS Track Recording: To draw your travel route on an interactive map
  • Photo Geo-tagging: To associate each photo with its geographic location
  • Trip Statistics: To calculate distance traveled, average speed, and trip duration
  • Map Display: To show your location and route using OpenStreetMap
  • Trip Sharing (Optional): If you choose to share a trip, location data may be included

What We Do NOT Do With Your Location

  • We do NOT track your location when you are not recording a trip
  • We do NOT sell or share your location data with advertisers
  • We do NOT use your location for user profiling or tracking
  • We do NOT upload your location to servers without your explicit action

3. Advertising

📢 PictPath displays advertisements using Google AdMob (free version only). Premium users do not see ads.

Your Advertising Choices

  • Opt-out of personalized ads: Go to your device Settings > Privacy > Advertising
  • Reset Advertising ID: You can reset your advertising identifier in device settings
  • Premium: Upgrade to Premium to remove all ads completely
  • Google Ad Settings: adssettings.google.com

4. Other Data We Collect

Photos and Videos

  • Images you capture during trips
  • Stored locally on your device by default
  • Tagged with GPS coordinates for map display
  • Only uploaded if you explicitly choose to share a trip

Trip Information

  • Trip names and dates
  • Duration (calculated from timestamps)
  • Distance and speed (calculated from GPS coordinates)

Account Information (Optional)

  • Email address (only if you create an account for cloud sync)
  • Display name (optional)

5. Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device by default. We do not:

  • Upload your photos to any server without your action
  • Store your GPS data in the cloud without your action
  • Transmit your location to external services for tracking
  • Create user accounts or profiles without your consent

6. Permissions Required

📍 Location (Foreground & Background)

To record GPS coordinates during trips. Background location is only used during active trip recording.

📷 Camera

To take photos and videos during trips. We only access the camera when you explicitly open it.

🖼️ Media Access

To access and display photos from your gallery within the app.

💾 Storage

To save photos, videos, and trip data locally on your device.

7. Third-Party Services

Google AdMob

Purpose: Display advertisements in the free version

Data collected: Advertising ID, device information, ad interaction data

Privacy: policies.google.com/privacy

Opt-out: adssettings.google.com

OpenStreetMap

Purpose: Display maps and routes

Data sent: Map tile coordinates (latitude/longitude area) to load map images

Note: No personal data is transmitted

Supabase (Optional - Interactive Sharing)

Purpose: Cloud storage for interactive trip sharing feature

When used: Only when you explicitly choose Interactive Map sharing

Data sent: Trip name, date, GPS track, photos you select to share

Data retention: 30 days, or until you delete it

8. Data Sharing

Quick Share

An image is generated locally on your device and shared directly to your chosen app (Messages, Instagram, etc.) without passing through our servers.

Interactive Sharing (Optional)

If you choose Interactive Map sharing, your trip data (including GPS track and photos) is temporarily uploaded to create a shareable link. Data is deleted after 30 days or when you delete it.

We Never Share

  • Your location data without your explicit consent
  • Your photos without your explicit action
  • Your location data with advertisers (ads use Advertising ID only)
  • Data for user profiling or tracking beyond ad serving

9. Your Rights and Control

  • Access: View all your data at any time within the app
  • Delete: Delete any trip, photo, or all app data at any time
  • Stop Tracking: End the trip or revoke location permissions at any time
  • Export: Share your photos and trip data using standard device features
  • Uninstall: Remove all data completely by uninstalling the app

10. Security

We protect your data by storing all information locally on your device, using device-level encryption for sensitive data, and following security best practices for mobile app development.

11. Children's Privacy

PictPath is designed for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since all data is stored locally on the user's device, there are no special considerations for children's data.

This privacy policy complies with international privacy laws including:
